1 pound lean (90%) ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
2 cans (16 oz each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans (14-1/2 oz each) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 medium green pepper, chopped
3 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp ground cumin
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp baking cocoa
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, optional
Salt and pepper to taste
In a large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium until the meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
