One of the more interesting things about programming Christmas music is that there are not nearly as many songs as one would assume. Seemingly there are thousands and thousands of Christmas songs and every year there are several popular Christmas albums. In my opinion, Michael Buble's new one is fantastic. The challenge is that almost all of the albums have many of the same songs like Sleigh Ride, Jingle Bells and I'll Be Home for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, these are some of the best songs ever, but it becomes hard to mix things up when every year's biggest Christmas albums pretty much have the same songs. Luckily we have You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch and Snoopy vs the Red Baron to spice it up.
My name is Jon and I love Christmas music like most people at this time of year. The problem I find with most radio stations is they play the same 25 or 30 artists! I listen to 98.3 in New Brunswick, N.J. I never hear Diana Krall or Matt Dusk, Michael Buble. Not even Tony Bennett or Percy Faith. It's like these artist don't even exist and that amazes me. I know there are only so many Christmas songs but lets hear somebody else do them! And it seems that in my listening area all the NY and NJ stations play from the same short play list! Merry Christmas, Jon
