Here comes the snow, little darlin'. It's alright.
It's December 1st, so...(I'm talking to you Mother Nature)...lets see some snow. It looks like we're going to get our first dose of snow today and the City of Madison says they are ready.
In a press release this morning, the Madison Streets Department said the plow trucks are gassed up, filled with salt, sand and GeoMelt. The latter is the new brine/beet juice mixture that they were testing out last year. How does it work, see the video below from some hoseheads in Canada (only 5 seconds in an he says a-boot.)
At least it's instructional.
Here's another newbie for the winter driving season. The city has set up a website of it's salt routes. It's a guide of which streets are salted and plowed first during a snow event, which assumes that you can travel easier on them during a snowstorm. Talk about your all time oxymoronic statements! You plug in a start and end location and it plots a route for you.
