Pilates and yoga have become popular additions to exercise regimes, and both are similar in their focus on breathing, but there are also important differences to consider.
Goal: increase the core strength of the body including the abdominal muscles, lower back and buttocks and incorporates extensive work on mats and machines.
Goal: sometimes considered more of a lifestyle choice which calls for focused exercise but also attention to diet, breathing, relaxation and meditation.
Though pilates engages both the body and mind, it doesn't seek to unify the two as yoga does.
